Let’s talk about the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

We've tested three Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones, and they all have a heat problem. Our OnePlus 15 review units shut down from overheating during a stress test, and we have data that other new phones from realme and REDMAGIC are also getting incredibly hot — or are forced to throttle performance drastically just to stay cool. This data doesn’t look great for Qualcomm and raises big questions for the entire Android industry, especially with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series not expected to have new cooling solutions.
